6) Minimizing refund

Most LTDs stop their LTD marketing activities right after their LTD is closed. This is a move that will cost them more than they can imagine.

The average refund rate at Appsumo is 30%. 

And sales in the last few days, when the countdown timer is displayed, account for about 20-30% of the total launch sales.

Remember, these customers still have a full 60 days to return their money.

I highly recommend you to push on with the marketing for another 60 days to reduce the refund rate.

A 10% reduction will help you save $5-10k in sales.
 

So what can we do?

  • Continue to provide incredible support
  • Ramp up your product development updates and share it in the group and via email.
    • A weekly update is good enough.
  • Share exciting roadmap (especially features that are coming soon)
  • Share success stories/ testimonials/ use cases or other content.
  • Share any news that gives people hope about the future of the product.
  • We can consider ending the campaign with a "thank you" giveaway. We have done this a few times in the group and the members felt that the founders cared about them.

Context: I do not know if you know this, but there are many cases of founders who have betrayed early adopters by either cancelling their plan or selling their company without including the early adopters in the new company's pricing plans.

So yes, anything that helps build trust in the founders and the company will help you sell more or reduce the chances of a refund.
