4) Where to Promote

In the previous section we talked about the different content types and ideas. In this section, I'll explain where you can promote them.

First of all, let's bring back the buyer's journey.

Some communities are in the unaware stage, others are in the most aware stage. So the copy for each of them should be slightly different.

What Is the Buyer's Journey?

LTD communities, for example, are in the most aware stage.

An entrepreneurship community, on the other hand, may not even know what LTDs are.

They may have questions like:

  • "What is an LTD, is it too good to be true?
  • "Can I trust Appsumo?"

We need to keep these questions in mind and tailor our content to each community type.

Below are the types of communities I recommend to get started:

LTD-aware

  • LTD communities
  • Product hunt communities
  • Appsumo community

Not aware of LTDs

  • Entrepreneurship communities
  • Agency owners communities
  • Affiliate marketer communities
  • Influencer communities
  • Blogger communities
  • Make money online communities
  • Community building communities
  • Facebook Ads Communities
  • SEO Communities
    • For the above two types, I find many agency owners and consultants in these groups.

I recommend starting with Facebook groups first before thinking about other platforms like Reddit and forums.

The reason is because LTD communities are most active on Facebook.

I looked at Reddit and other forums and their overall activity combined is even lower than my group.

Facebook itself will take up a lot of time and resources, so it's perfectly fine if you limit yourself to just one platform.

I recommend tackling the different platforms in the following order.

  • LTD communities on Facebook
  • LTD infuencers on Youtube
  • SaaS reviewers on Youtube
  • The rest of the communities I mentioned above on Facebook.
  • Move to Reddit and other forums.

Pro-tip: Ask influencers to share not only in their communities and channels, but also in their email list.

Product Hunt launch

I also suggest launching Shopper.com at PH during the LTD period so you can not only ask existing prospects for upvotes, but also present an incredible offer to the PH community and convert them.

Also, this is a good chance to ask any community you have partnered with to share about your PH launch as well.

If you have given them something, they should be willing to return the favor by posting your launch.

Get the PH of the day/week and post it back to the communities to celebrate :)

Pro-Tip: You do not have to join ALL the communities in every category. For example, you do not have to join all the LTD communities. Just the top 3-5 are enough. Because the members in these groups are often the same people.

This will give you more time and energy for other tasks.

Cornerstone groups to be active

It is impossible to stay active in all the communities you partner with.

Unless you plan to employ an army of marketers.

Therefore, it is fine to post and move on in most of these communities. You don't have to remain active in there anymore.

But I would suggest that you decide on 1 to 3 (maximum 5) groups where you keep posting updates, sharing your journey, replying to comments, offering support and so on.

Do not forget that you also still have to take care of your own community, and building a community is a full time job.

If you do not have resources, just focus on my group and your own community. The most active LTD buyers are all in my group anyway.

Finally, do not forget your own social media profiles and Appsumo deal pages.

The most important content and posts should be posted on these platforms and pinned on the Appsumo deal page.

I almost never see founders do this, but you can pin up to 5 comments on the Appsumo deal page and swap out old ones for newer ones.

Now we know where to promote, but how should we go about approaching these influencers?

Let's find out.
